Join us every Friday as we kick off the weekend with a DIY build! Students will become Builder Buddies by working together to engineer and design the best prototype possible. Each week we’ll dive into something new to develop!
“Robots from Scratch”
Students will participate in building and programming LEGO Mindstorm Robotics kit to do any number of actions. They will gain valuable mechanical and electrical engineering experience with the technology they crave.
“Suspension Bridge Challenge”
Students will be challenged to engineer a suspension bridge that can hold pennies. Teams will then try to engineer a bridge to hold the most pennies without breaking.
“Shake and Quake”
Students will be challenged to build the tallest building that can still withstand tectonic plate movements. This cool simulator build gives students valuable insight behind the natural disaster Californians know all too well; earthquakes.
Students will use the Glowforge laser cutter to design their own car using Computer Assisted Drawing (C.A.D.) software. Then they’ll cut out their design to engineer a fully movable rubber band car that they’ll face off in a race.
Teams of students will design and build a small personal catapult that can fling marbles across a room. Students will then compile data to find out exactly how much tension it takes to move the marbles certain distances. The team with the most accurate data wins a prize!
