Little Physics Masters

Do you want to master the basic principles engineers use to design everything from hammers to airplanes? This course series will use a FUN set of hands-on labs to prove to students that energy is conserved, help them discover how it is related to force and understand how simple machines like levers and pulleys take advantage of their relationship.

Week 1

“The Double Bounce Challenge”

Students will learn that energy is conserved by participating in the classic physics class favorite: The Pendulum Drop. Then, after a few engaging demonstrations, students will try to complete the Double Bounce Challenge.

Week 2

“Full Force Ahead”

Students will learn the basic concepts behind motion physics and how friction and force play a significant role in our everyday lives.

Week 3

“Exploding Pressure”

Students will experience a jam-packed day centered around the physics of pressure. Starting with our most loved demonstration - “Baby Bottle Bombs” - and topped by the production of a real cloud; students won’t want to miss this!

Week 4

“An Ocean of Air”

This course will demonstrate air pressure in a fantastic manner that all students can enjoy using household products.

Week 5

“Nuts and Bolts”

Students will design and build their own lever and pulley systems to increase their ability to pick up large weights efficiently. Just like engineers, they will have to work through obstacles devising new plans when the systems meet a road block.
